Blue Jackets forward Kent Johnson will miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season with a torn labrum in his left shoulder and is expected to have surgery later this week, the club announced on Sunday. 

Johnson, who has been placed on injured reserve, suffered the injury in the final seconds of Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Rangers in New York. 

In 42 NHL games this season, Johnson posted 6-10--16 while posting 5-10--15 in 10 AHL games. In 130 NHL games, he's posted 22-37--59. 

The No. 5 overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft is in the final year of his entry-level contract and is scheduled to be a restricted free agent this offseason. 

Additionally, the Blue Jackets added goaltender Jet Greaves to the roster on emergency recall from the AHL while Elvis Merzlikins is day-to-day with an upper-body injury. 

The Blue Jackets are back in action on Monday when they host the Vegas Golden Knights at 7 p.m. ET on Bally Sports Ohio.
