Sergei Bobrovsky just hasn't played well enough to start the season. We know that.

And while his pending contract situation isn't helping matters, Bobrovsky can still play better than he has. Perhaps the uncertainty is hanging over him?

In his weekly 31 Thoughts column, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman expounded on the Bobrovsky situation and how the Blue Jackets "aren't thrilled" with the rumors surrounding the team. They're off to a wobbly 4-4-0 start and Bobrovsky has been (statistically) one of the worst starting goaltenders in the league, and tonight in St. Louis, he will sit while Joonas Korpisalo gets a start.

Here's what Friedman has to say about Bobrovsky:

He looks very unhappy, and what Columbus must weigh is the effect it has on the roster. He has control over the situation with a no-move clause, but it is believed he has given an indication of teams he will consider. Even if you think Long Island is in Bobrovsky’s future, isn’t there some point this season he has to ramp it up to his regular level of excellence as proof of his worth?

If the Blue Jackets have a list of teams he would consider in a trade, well, it certainly seems like they're committed to resolving this and moving forward without Bobrovsky – whether it happens via trade or this summer in free agency.

Stay tuned. This is only beginning, it appears.
