The Fuse: This Trend of the Blue Jackets Not Respecting Their Opponents? It Must Stop, And Fast

Obviously the Arizona game was bad, but was that 1st period the worst period the Local Team has played this season? No effort until they were down 3-Zip, poor powerplay play again (what is it going to take to get this fixed?), and overall just poor defensive play.

More than anything, the poor D-man play is what's concerning me: nobody really seems to want to play defense.

We may as well get used to it.  They are nothing more than a .500 team.  now sitting 10th in the east and may finish lower than that.

That's awfully misleading. The standings are compact and they're a game out of the division lead.

You see signs of a long winning streak?  Team doesn't start on time ever.  The only real scorer is leaving.  The alleged #1 goalie is worried about his contract and size of his pads.

One great thing I noticed last night.....the loud cheers in our barn for the Red Wings were not there as they potted the first 3 goals.

Starting 5-3-2, 7-3-0 and now 6-4-0 the last three seasons isn't "starting on time?"

The reality is that few teams have their shit together in October, but those who keep themselves in the race have a real chance. The Blue Jackets have some things to work out, but here's a stat that may interest you: they have not been under .500 since Oct. 27, 2016.

By starting on time I meant the games........they haven't scored the first goal since Florida, 8 games ago.

The country club attitude seems to have crept back into the locker room. Idk. But there's some serious effort, discipline and coaching problems going on here. Not sure if that the "we've been to the PO so people will fear us" or all the other drama, but watching this team is just not fun.

This is kind of what I'm getting at. It's almost as though they expect to be feared, which just isn't going to happen.

I don't even see how that's entirely possibly in all honesty. It's not like they blew the doors off teams in the PO last year. They got owned more than doing the owning. I have no idea why they're not pissed off like I thought they'd be for getting waxed at home vs the Caps to end the year.

Thank you, Blue Jackets for being the final turd atop the pile of crap that was my birthday.

Happy birthday OWSH45; it's a shame your birthday didn't go as well as hoped for. My birthday is today (that's Halloween, not All Saints day :-) Let's hope the CBJ play up to their ability in San Jose in give us both a belated party.

All the Best;

I think this season is playing out exactly where I thought it would.  We aren’t as good as some think but not as bad either.  I said somewhere between 7-10 in the east this year - and that’s where we are and what we are.

That said, Until the players take the next step and actually start taking some pride in what they do by showing some semblance of improvement, then we will be what we are today.  That may come this year, next year or maybe never.  Maybe we’re just a .500 ballclub.  I’ll still watch but I don’t think this team has the “IT” factor - and not sure it ever will.

When you try every combination of players and putting these players in every position at what point is it a scheme problem for the power play. In the year 2018 a John Tortorella coaches team will never win a cup. He’s a fantastic motivator but I truly believe he has taken this team as far as it will go. The jackets need a new, young, bright offensive mind if they want to continue to become a better hockey team and finally start doing shit in the playoffs

I've read comments like your's elsewhere. Honestly, I find a certain amount of truth in the idea. Not because I think Torts isn't capable of taking a team to the Cup, but because of history. It is fairly common for one good coach/manager to build up a team and teach them how to win, then a different coach/manager to come in and take that team to a championship.
