I think there's a fair chance that Torts will start Matiss, tonight, and save Elvis for Colorado, the tougher opponent and on the back end of a back-to-back.
Agree. Especially when you have Tampa on Monday too. Pretty much the same scenario as last weekend.
Well, yes, but I am a little concerned about sending the wrong message to the team, especially after Torts fumed about yesterday's "lazy" practice. These two points are essential to our playoff hopes. Elvis is young and he can get plenty of rest when Korpi comes back and they can go every other game. For now...if I am coach, I start the hot hand for all three games.
The problem is that we don't know when Korpi is coming back. Do you run the risk of Elvis also going down with an injury when Matiss has shown to be capable?
You're right on not knowing when Korpi is coming back, but he is working out with Coach Legace and traveled with the team on its recent road trip. Unless there has been a setback I haven't heard about, that tells me the return is sooner rather than later.
With the team (and Elvis) doing so well, CBJ leadership have the luxury of giving Korpi a little extra time to make sure he is fully healed, in game-ready shape and doesn't re-injure himself by trying to come back too soon. I believe we saw the same factors at play last month when Atkinson, Bjorkstrand and Milano were out.
This feels like a must win game. We can’t afford to drop points to these guys.
