I fear this may be the death blow

Cuncel da season!!!   I saw it with Tampa, they fore checked high and hard as there is no offensive threat to keep them on their heels.   Seth was that last modicum of passing out of the back that kept teams alittle honest.    The book on us is out.     Sucks especially with such a deep draft that we have 1 pick in the first 60+.   Poor asset mismanagement at its finest.

What on earth are you talking about? Columbus controlled that game from the second period on. If Jenner puts that shot 1/4" lower, it's a win over the hottest team in the league.

Werenski is more than capable playing out of the back, as is Nutivaara, and Peeke has flashed too.

To my point, Moneypuck's xG tracking shows it crystal clear.

Matt, relax guy. From what I've read, Bradychoke's negativity makes me look like an optimist.
Seriously, though, I think several of the regular commentors, here, are quite young. I say this because they swing from one extreme to the other so easily. Patience with such youthful lack of control of emotion is the only course.

Lol, very good point. Just a bit fired up.

I was at the first CBJ game.    You know what it makes you look like when you assume things.     Im glad you guys can't wait for the next " CBJ Made the Playoffs" Banner.

So was I. What's your point? I've been watching hockey for 30 years.

Anyway, I would like to hear your reasoning why losing Seth Jones is the final straw, and why a performance against Tampa, the best team in the league over the last 2-3 weeks, where they outplayed them for the majority of the game, has convinced you of this.

One game does not a season make! Honestly, I don't think, nor have I thought all season, that the Jackets will be in the playoffs. I could be wrong, of course. But to take the (arguably) most well rounded, best team in the league for the last three years to overtime when so many of your top players, including your best defenseman, are out with injuries is NOT a reason to throw in the towel. In the 50+ years I've followed hockey, I have only seen people below the age of 20 espouse such despair. Relax, enjoy the ride and, for the gods' sake, remember that it's just a game, entertainment, not something of major importance.

I dunno - Look at it as just a math equation people... 25 games left - Anywhere from 25-50 points to be had. Say we win ONLY 13 games - This puts us at 96 points. I don't think we will only win 13 more.... but I could be wrong.

Agreed. I think 96-97 is the bar for a playoff spot. 13-12 gets you right there with a shot.

I too have been in/and/or following hockey for 50+ years. If the boys can get 3 wins, or average 6 points, for every 5 games left. I say we make it for sure. 13 wins might get it if we keep the RW's high. Break the remaining schedule down into 5-game segments. Look at it closely and see if you guys think there are 6 points we should be able to get, for  each 5-game segment......and keep the RW's coming too(now the first tiebreaker, not ROW this year).

This being with just the current roster, plus any guys from the IR returning. Maybe Jarmo has something up his sleeve we are not obviously considering. Available scorers aren't too plentiful out there right now. .....but is Korpisalo trade bait when he returns..?..,?...

....and one more point. Winning the right games, also matters a lot!

Meaning, winning as many Metro division games as possible. With games vs the Atlantic, second most important.

eh.... Yes and no... A win is a win in as far as points go and games take care of themselves... Meaning, yes I know a win in the Metro and Atlantic mean more but just last night the Stars took care of Leafs and Flyers took care of the Panthers and the Preds beat the Islanders leaving us - exactly where we were. And as far as regulation wins - we are right there in the mix with other wild card teams... We should be getting a healthy Andy back soon. I know Seth hurt, a lot - but this is not a season killer. Head up, lets kick the Ranger's ass and get back on the W side. I'll see you at the game.
