Thirteen games remain, but it appears the Columbus Blue Jackets are getting hot at just the right time as the playoff race pushes onward like a train off its tracks. Entering Nationwide Arena as the Blue Jackets' final opponent of this four-game home stand is the Montreal Canadiens, who are all but eliminated from playoff contention and losers of their last four. Here's what to expect.

MATCHUP:

Montreal Canadiens at Columbus Blue Jackets
Nationwide Arena, 7:00 p.m.
TV: Fox Sports Ohio

WHAT TO WATCH FOR:

  • The injury bug has bitten the Canadiens full force. Vezina-winner Carey Price, team captain Max Pacioretty and first-pairing defenseman Shea Weber headline a list of five players currently on Montreal's injured reserve list.
  • If ever there was a time to get the power play offense clicking for the Blue Jackets, it may be tonight. The Canadiens' penalty kill has allowed 52 goals on the season, just one behind the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks for worst in the league. Moreover, they've allowed a power play goal in each of the last five games they've played.
  • Particularly hot during this winning streak for the Blue Jackets has been the top defensive pairing of Seth Jones and Zach Werenski. The duo has combined for six goals and four assists during the last five games.
