The Columbus Blue Jackets make an appearance on national television Wednesday night when they face-off against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The game, which will be on TNT and HBO Max, is the first of three meetings this season between the divisional rivals.

It's also the Flyers only visit of the season to Nationwide Arena.

Here are five things to know before the 7:30 p.m. puck-drop:

  • Philadelphia did something Friday that had only been done once all season: they beat the Avalanche in Colorado in regulation. They followed up that 7-3 win with a goose egg, losing 4-0 on home ice to the New York Islanders on Monday. ... Daniel Vladař gets the Flyers net. He's 16-7-4 this season with a 2.46 goals against average and .905 save percentage. This will be his first start after missing two weeks with an upper-body injury.

  • After missing nearly three weeks, Denton Mateychuk returns to the lineup and will skate on the second defensive pairing along with Ivan Provorov. Miles Wood, out since New Year's Eve, also returns Wednesday and will be on the fourth line. It's the first game under new head coach Rick Bowness for both players.

  • This could be an opportunity for the Blue Jackets power play to find a little mojo. The Flyers have allowed a power play goal in seven of their last eight games and are killing penalties at only a 67.6% clip in that time.

  • Elvis Merzlikins appears to be the starter for Columbus. He left his last start on Jan. 20th against the Ottawa Senators with an illness, but had won back-to-back starts prior to that. For the season, Merzlikins is 8-8-1 with an .882 save percentage and 3.81 goals against average.

  • Wood's return means that Danton Heinen is a healthy scratch, and Jake Christiansen sits for the returning Mateychuk. Here are the complete lineup projections:

17 Mason Marchment 19 Adam Fantilli 86 Kirill Marchenko
38 Boone Jenner 23 Sean Monahan 91 Kent Johnson
