CBJ GOALS:
Werenski (1st, 4:46)
Provorov (1st, 12:50)
Heinen (2nd, 5:17)
Monahan ENG (3rd, 15:33)

That's what the Columbus Blue Jackets have done as they beat the Chicago Blackhawks 4-0 on Wednesday night at Nationwide Arena to win their seventh straight game.

Jet Greaves made 21 saves as he completed his second shutout of the season and the fourth of his career. It's the second shutout in as many nights after Elvis Merzlikins shut out the New Jersey Devils 3-0 on Tuesday, giving the Blue Jackets a shutout streak of 146:25. It's the third time in franchise history that the Blue Jackets have had back-to-back shutouts in consecutive games with different goalies.

Zach Werenski, Ivan Provorov, and Danton Heinen provided all the scoring.

Spencer Knight made 16 saves.

This one got started fast, as Werenski, who will be on Team USA in the upcoming Olympics, showed off the skill early with his 20th tally of the year to put the Blue Jackets on the board in the first period. Ivan Provorov kept it rolling in the period as he scored to make it 2-0.

Danton Heinen's 99th career goal was nullified after a successful challenge for goaltender interference in Tuesday's win over the New Jersey Devils. He would not be denied on Wednesday night as he scored in the second period to increase the 3-0 lead. Monahan capped it off with the empty-net goal.

One aspect contributing to the Blue Jackets' success of late is that the team knows it has to keep pushing.

"The reality is we just got 22 points out of 24, and we still don't have a playoff spot," head coach Rick Bowness said. "So, we have to keep pushing. We have to keep getting better.

"Give the players a ton of credit. They've been working their butt off."

Kirill Marchenko missed his second straight game with an illness.

Here's how the Blue Jackets, winners in 11 of 12, went into the Olympic break on a heater:

1st Period:

(4:46 — CBJ Goal): Werenski (20) continued a seven-game point streak (two goals, eight assists) with his first-period goal. Cole Sillinger (20) and Charlie Coyle (26) assisted on the tally. The puck pinballed off Louis Crevier and then Alex Vlasic before getting past Knight.

(5:17 — CBJ Goal): Heinen's third goal, second as a Blue Jacket, made the score 3-0. Coyle (27) added his second assist, making such a good play to keep the puck in the offensive zone, skate around the defense, and fire the pass over to Heinen.

(15:33 — CBJ Goal): Monahan scored his 10th of the year, unassisted, as the Jackets got the empty-net goal.
