The Blue Jackets' chances of catching the Washington Capitals are growing slimmer by the day. While that's not too surprising, what is surprising is the team responsible for ending the Capitals' lengthy home-ice win streak.

Dallas - yes, the Stars! - rolled into Verizon Center on Monday night and took it to the Capitals. They scored the first three goals of the game to chase Braden Holtby and let Philip Grubauer come in to clean up the mess. T.J. Oshie brought the Capitals within one at 3-2 with just under eight minutes left in regulation, but Patrick Sharp put it to bed with an empty-netter.

Washington remains on 95 points, seven clear of the Blue Jackets and Penguins, with 17 games remaining.
