The Columbus Blue Jackets will get an early and up-close look into the 2017 Stanley Cup finalists.

Fresh off winning their fifth Stanley Cup, the Pittsburgh Penguins have announced their upcoming preseason schedule. This normally wouldn't make news around these parts, but the Columbus Blue Jackets are listed twice on the exhibition schedule for the defending Stanley Cup champions. Ditto goes for the Predators, who will also take on the Jackets twice in their exhibition slate.

The Blue Jackets and Penguins will meet at Nationwide Arena on Friday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. before playing eight days later in Pittsburgh at 3:00 p.m. for "Free Game for Kids" day at PPG Paints Arena.

Additionally, the Nashville Predators, who fell just short in their quest for the Stanley Cup, announced their preseason schedule.

The Preds will visit Nationwide Arena on Sunday, September 24 at 3 p.m, and will follow that up with a trip to Bridgestone Arena on Thursday, September 28 at 8 p.m.

The Blue Jackets have yet to announce their full preseason schedule, though it appears to be complete. They are slated to play the Predators, Penguins, Blues and Blackhawks twice each, and given that they typically play eight preseason games, it should only be a matter of time before that's confirmed.

Finally, regular season home openers are expected to be announced Wednesday with the full 2017-18 schedule released on Thursday.
