The latest trading and transactions deadline has passed, and the Blue Jackets remained quiet – for now.

NHL clubs had one last opportunity to make trades with each other before the Vegas Golden Knights receive their protected lists, and any deals had to be done by 3 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Rosters are now frozen in advance of the expansion draft later this week in Las Vegas, but GMs can attempt to work out deals with Vegas GM George McPhee to either lay off certain players or select one they’d prefer. Basically, the freeze does not apply to the Golden Knights.

It’s believed the Blue Jackets are interested in a deal with Vegas involving their first-round pick and David Clarkson’s contract, as widely reported by multiple outlets.

No “side deals” will be announced until the expansion draft results are released during the NHL Awards on Wednesday night.
