I think it's a sorry thing to read and I don't put a lot of stock in it, considering the time of year, but......
Dimitri Voronkov's name keeps popping up in trade rumors. Some of these "rumors" strike me as fanboys dreaming up ridiculous trades that only benefit their team. Such as the proposal that the Jackets accept a 3rd line winger, a prospect winger and two draft picks for Dimitri. If Waddell accepted that offer, he'd deserve to be tarred, feathered and hung from NWAs rafters by his feet.
A Buffalo blog suggested Byram Bowen straight up for Voronkov. If Waddell accepted that, either Fabbro or Provorov would wind up on the third pair with either Severson or Gudbranson bumped to 7th D. I don't know what would happen to Christiansen. I guess he'd have to be traded somewhere. "Anyone want a solid 7th D, cheap?"
Believe it or not, those are the two sanest suggested trades I've come across. The rest range from belly laugh time to "How old are you, six?"
But here's the thing. I don't think Waddell has put Voronkov on the market. But when there's a blurb or an article almost daily about GMs inquiring about a player, I have to ask myself if a trade will happen. Why Voronkov is being asked about is obvious. Big power forwards not afraid to lay hits and go to the dirty spots don't grow on trees. The last power forward the Jackets had (not counting Kirill the Thrill) was Josh Anderson and Voronkov makes him look like a wuss. So, other teams interested in our big man is understandable. The question is, will some GM make an offer that causes Waddell to blink?
