Vegas is going to the Stanley Cup Finals. And guess who their starting goalie is..... Carter f#$¥ing Hart! Some of you may recall that, when I suggested that the Jackets should try to sign him, there were those who said he wasn't worth the baggage. WTF!?!? Has anyone seen/read/heard any stories about his legal problems? The only stories I've come across are about the job he's doing and, now, playing in the Stanley Cup Finals. Winning cures everything! Hart and his cohorts were found not guilty. So who gives a s£÷t about his legal problems? Would you feel okay with being banned from your profession after being found not guilty of a crime? Of course, not! Why hold athletes and other public figures to a different standard?
Let's be effing real, here. Just because someone is one of the best at some athletic skill does not mean that he's morally superior to anyone. Example: Ty Cobb was one of the best baseball players of his era. No dispute. He was also openly racist, a dirty player (including intentionally sharpening his cleats so that opposing players would be likely to get out of the way when he was sliding into a base) and an alcoholic. Yet, he's still in the Hall Of Fame despite being a despicable human being.
While he caught a lot of crap, Al Davis, the former owner of the (then) Oakland Raiders famously told his team, "Just win, baby." The Vegas Golden Knights owner gets that. Does Blue Jackets ownership?
