Not the blockbuster that the Brandon Saad, Artemi Panarin deal is, the Columbus Blue Jackets acquired a veteran forward.

The Blue Jackets received center Jordan Schroeder from the Minnesota Wild for winger Dante Salituro.

Schroeder played in 37 games this past season for the Wild and scored six goals and seven assists for a total of 13 points.

Salituro was bumped from league to league last year playing in the AHL, ECHL and OHL. His junior career was impressive averaging over a point per game in 2014-15 and 2015-16. He ended his 2016-17 season with the London Knights (OHL) where he put up 11 points in 22 games.

Schroeder fills an immediate need for the Blue Jackets in the AHL as a center. He'll provide depth for the minor league club while playing in a pinch in the NHL.

Salituro is a promising prospect but after a year where he couldn't stick in the league, his stock wasn't nearly as high.

One player is getting a change of scenery and the other is filling an organizational need down the middle.
