The future has always been bright for the Columbus Blue Jackets, but three different players in three different stages of their careers made impacts at the 2018 IIHF World Championships.

Elvis Merzlikins (Latvia), Cam Atkinson (United States), and Markus Nutivaara (Finland) were all named to their teams' top three players of the tournament.

Atkinson had a total of 11 points, scoring four goals and seven assists. Nutivaara scored three goals and pitched in six assists for a total of nine points, while Merzlikins was stellar for the Latvians with a .940 save percentage and 1.50 goals against average.

Out of the bunch, only Atkinson won a medal – earning bronze with the Americans, who knocked off Canada on Sunday. Sonny Milano and Blue Jackets assistant general manager Bill Zito were also on the U.S. team that won bronze.
