It looked like it was going to be a problematic game for the Columbus Blue Jackets but it turns out that they are just slow starters.
During their first period against the Florida Panthers, they came out of the gate moving slowly. It looked like it was going to be a rough game for goaltender Joonas Korpisalo as two goals came quickly in the first. Luckily for the team, they came back and with a vengeance.
The second period saw three Blue Jacket goals one each from Cam Atkinson, Brandon Dubinsky and Pierre-Luc Dubois. They started to pour it on before defensemen Keith Yandle later on in the period tied the game for the Panthers. It led to a third period that should've been full of drama yet provided anything but that.
What can you say about the third period other than that it was a butt-kicking? Zac Dalpe, Anthony Duclair, Josh Anderson and Boone Jenner all had goals in the period. The goals were straightforward in their nature. Duclair's was the fanciest as he deked goaltender Roberto Luongo out of his skates.
The Blue Jackets missed two of their best players, but it didn't seem to matter. They took on a Panthers team that had won five straight and stopped them in their tracks.
It doesn't get much better than this for Columbus. 14 players got points for the team tonight. It is all coming easy for them right now.
The Blue Jackets were missing both Riley Nash, Artemi Panarin, and Sergei Bobrovsky who were out due to flu.
The Blue Jackets will next play on Saturday, November 17 in Raleigh to take on the Carolina Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m.
