Nationwide On Their Side: Blue Jackets Halt Rangers’ Winning Streak, Earn 4-2 Win on Home Ice

Dmitri Voronkov closed in on the rookie goal-scoring lead and the Blue Jackets snapped the New York Rangers' 10-game winning streak with a 4-2 win on Sunday at Nationwide Arena.

1st Period

Mathieu Olivier and Adam Rempe got the crowd on its feet with a spirited heavyweight bout at 2:12.

For the second-straight game, Voronkov opened the scoring with his 16th goal of the year from the left doorstep thanks to a feed from Kirill Marchenko at 4:34.

After an Ivan Provorov turnover, Artemi Panarin tied the game at 14:22 from below the right circle on a top-shelf shot that Elvis Merzlikins will want to have back.

The clubs were tied at one after the first period with New York taking a 14-12 advantage in shots on goal into the second period.

2nd Period

Marchenko scored his 17th goal of the season and gave the Blue Jackets a 2-1 lead at 0:18 with a deke around Jonathan Quick's right pad after receiving a feed from Voronkov, who was below the goal line. 

Adam Edstrom tied the game for New York at 11:11 when his centering feed from the left doorstep delceted off of Jake Bean's skate and in. 

Jack Roslovic scored his fourth goal of the season put Columbus up 3-2 at 11:57 with a right-circle wrist shot on a two-on-one rush off a feed from Johnny Gaudreau.

Columbus doubled its lead at 18:35 when Ivan Provorov tallied his fifth goal of the campaign with a wrist shot from the right slot thanks to a pass from Roslovic.

The Blue Jackets led 4-2 after 40 minutes and had a 30-22 advantage in shots on goal.

3rd Period

While the Rangers had a six-on-four advantage, Merzlikins made a great stop on Mika Zibanejad's left-circle one-timer at 18:38.

Merzlikins made several key saves to help the Blue Jackets win 4-2 and improve to 19-28-10.
