CBJ GOALS:

Wood (2) (OT, 2:53)

Miles Wood scored twice, including the overtime game-winner, and the Columbus Blue Jackets continued their early-season road dominance with a 4-3 win Tuesday night over the Sabres in Buffalo.

Yegor Chinakhov started the scoring for Columbus, scoring his second goal of the season at the 6:09 mark of the opening frame.

It was the only goal of the first period.

The Sabres tied the game and then took the lead in a span of less than three minutes in the middle of the second period, with Josh Doan and Ryan McLeod scoring for Buffalo to give them a 2-1 lead.

But the Blue Jackets struck back in the closing seconds of the period, with Zach Werenski tying the game at 2-2 with just 16 seconds to go. It was a power-play goal for Columbus.

Buffalo would go up for the second time in the game when former Blue Jacket Josh Dunne got the first goal of his NHL career at the 2:40 mark of the third period, and the score would remain 3-2 in favor of the Sabres until the first of two from Wood with just over six minutes left.

In overtime, Wood would pick up his first career overtime game-winner when he scored from the side of the net off a pass from Werenski to give the Blue Jackets the 4-3 victory.

Wood credited his overtime linemates with making it happen.

"The ice was not great there. It just bounced a lot and I was fortunate enough to make a play there," said Wood. "(Lundestrom) made a great play to (Werenski) and I was just fortunate to be back door there."

"Z made a great play."

Werenski was just happy for the two points.

"It was fun. It probably wasn't the prettiest of wins ... but at the end of the day we found a way to get two points," said Werenski.

The win boosted Columbus' road record to 4-1-0, and was their fourth straight two-point night away from Nationwide Arena.

Here's how the Blue Jackets got above .500 for the first time in the 2025-26 campaign:

1st Period:

(6:09 — CBJ Goal): Chinakhov scores for the second time in as many games, giving Columbus an early lead.

2nd Period:

(19:44 — CBJ Goal): Zach Werenski gets the game-tying goal with just :16 left before the horn, giving the Blue Jackets a power-play goal on what would be their only opportunity of the game.

3rd Period + Overtime:

(13:55 — CBJ Goal): The first of two on the night for Wood.

(OT 2:53 — CBJ Goal): Wood gets his second of the night and sends the Blue Jackets home with two more points.
