The Columbus Blue Jackets are adding another piece to their forward group, signing veteran winger Ryan Lomberg to a two-year contract worth $2.6 million.
The average annual value is $1.3 million.
Bartlett Hockey, who represents Lomberg, posted the news early Wednesday afternoon to the X platform.
Lomberg, 31, brings a physical, high-energy style of play to Columbus after spending the last two seasons with the Calgary Flames. He had four goals and five assists for a total of nine points in 57 games this season.
For his career, Lomberg has 35 goals and 37 assists (72 points) in 394 games.
While his offensive numbers have never been eye-popping, the undrafted forward has made an NHL career by providing relentless forechecking, toughness and a willingness to play in gritty areas.
A native of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, Lomberg also spent the first two seasons of his career with the Flames before playing four seasons with the Florida Panthers. He was a member of the Panthers team that reached the 2023 Stanley Cup Final and later helped Florida capture the Stanley Cup in 2024, establishing himself as an important depth player during the club's postseason runs.
Lomberg has registered 68 career fighting majors, including five this season and seven last season.
The Blue Jackets have emphasized adding experience and competitiveness to their roster this offseason, and Lomberg checks both boxes in a bottom-six role. A respected teammate throughout his career, he's built a reputation as a player willing to do the little things that don't always appear on the scoresheet, whether that's finishing checks, killing penalties or providing energy during momentum swings.
Earlier in the day, now-former Blue Jacket Mason Marchment left the club to sign a five-year deal with the San Jose Sharks.
