CBJ GOALS:
Marchenko (P2, 6:46)
Voronkov (P2, 13:02)
Marchenko (2) (P3, 9:47)

Kirill Marchenko scored twice and Dmitri Voronkov had three points, but the Columbus Blue Jackets lost their third straight game Saturday night in a 4-3 loss to the Vancouver Canucks.

It's the first time this season the Blue Jackets have lost three in a row.

After a scoreless first period, each team would find the back of the net twice in the second period. Vancouver's Jake DeBrusk gave the Canucks a 1-0 lead at the 5:28 mark, but Marchenko's first of the night tied the game just over one minute later.

Seconds later, Mathieu Olivier would get a major for boarding that put the Canucks on a five-minute power play. The Blue Jackets penalty kill, which has struggled mightily  but has shown progress in recent games, managed to stop Vancouver from scoring and shifted momentum Columbus' way.

Just over one minute after the penalty kill ended, the Blue Jackets would capitalize on that momentum with a goal from Voronkov to give Columbus their first lead of the night at 2-1.

Vancouver would answer in the final minute of the period, sending the game into the third period at 2-2. The Canucks would take a lead at the 6:17 mark, but Marchenko's second goal of the night at 9:47 tied the game for a third time, this time at 3-3.

Brock Boeser broke the tie with 5:45 remaining in regulation on a shot that fooled Columbus goaltender Elvis Merzlikins, who finished with 21 saves on 25 shots.

Canucks goalie Kevin Lankinen stopped 29 of 32 shots for Vancouver.

Defenseman Zach Werenski said that despite the loss, the effort Saturday night was improved from the first two games of the still-winless road trip.

"I didn't really like our game on Long Island or Calgary, but I liked our game tonight," said Werenski. "We couldn't find a way to win, but games where we play well we have to find a way to get two points."

"It's got to come here soon."

Here's how the Blue Jackets moved to 0-3 on the five-game road trip:

2nd Period:

(5:28 — VAN Goal): DeBrusk gets an active second period going and gives Vancouver a 1-0 lead.

(6:46 — CBJ Goal): Columbus answers the Vancouver goal just over a minute later, with Marchenko's seventh goal of the season tying the game at 1-1.

(13:02 — CBJ Goal): Voronkov gives the Blue Jackets a 2-1 lead — their first lead of the night — with his first goal in six games.

(19:03 — VAN Goal): A missed cross check leads to the Canucks second goal of the period, with O'Connor tying the game at 2-2 in the final minute of the middle frame.

3rd Period:

(6:17 — VAN Goal): Garland pokes it past Merzlikins, giving the Canucks a 3-2 lead.

(9:47 — CBJ Goal): Marchenko gets his second goal of the night (and eighth of the campaign) to tie the game at 3-3. Voronkov and Damon Severson get the assists.

(14:15 — VAN Goal): Boeser's seventh goal of the season puts the Canucks up for the third time in the game and is the eventual game-winner for Vancouver.
