John Buccigross is a noted Ohioan, noted hockey fan and noted host of the Bucci OT Challenge on Twitter.

The ESPN anchor is also on the side of Blue Jackets forward Nick Foligno, and today he put his money where his mouth is. Buccigross pledged to donate $500 to Foligno-related charities this season for every goal Nick scored; with 26 put in the net by the Blue Jackets captain, that means a cool $13,000.

Today, Buccigross took care of that pledge with proceeds from sales of Bucci OT gear. The Steubenville Catholic Central and Heidelberg University grad announced on Twitter that half would go to the Foligno Family Cardiovascular Research Lab at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus and the other half would go to the Janis Foligno Foundation.

Foligno lost his mom, Janis, to breast cancer in 2009. The foundation, established in 2010, "supports local charities and research projects committed to the treatment and eradication of cancer," according to its website

The cardiovascular research lab at Nationwide Children's was founded thanks to a $500,000 donation from Nick and his wife Janelle in 2016. Their daughter, Milana, was born with a congenital heart defect in 2013 but survived thanks to the doctors at the Columbus hospital.

Foligno, as one might expect, was honored to receive the donations from Buccigross.

Here's a stick tap from those of us at 1OB to Buccigross for his generosity as well, and for helping promote those causes near and dear to Foligno's heart.
