Columbus Blue Jackets Cut 17 Players As Training Camp Continues

The Columbus Blue Jackets have cut 17 players today as the opening night roster is beginning to take shape. The current roster after today's cuts has 36 players on it.

The following players have been cut from the roster:

  • Forward Paul Bittner 
  • Forward Jordan Maletta
  • Defenseman Ryan Collins
  • Defenseman Jacob Graves
  • Defenseman Blake Siebenaler
  • Defenseman Doyle Somerby  
  • Goaltender Matiss Kivlenieks
  • Forward Alex Broadhurst
  • Defenseman Andre Benoit
  • Defenseman Cameron Gaunce  
  • Forward Carter Camper
  • Forward Brett Gallant 
  • Forward Miles Koules 
  • Forward Bobby MacIntyre
  • Defenseman Scott Savage
  • Goaltender Ivan Kulbakov 
  • Goaltender Brad Thiessen

Broadhurst, Benoit, and Gaunce all will have to go through waivers before being assigned to AHL Cleveland. Camper, Gallant, Koules, MacIntyre, Savage, Kulbakov and Thiessen were released from tryout contracts.

The Blue Jackets have three more games including tonight against the St. Louis Blues at Nationwide Arena at 7 p.m.
