Just like they drew it up.

BLUE JACKETS 0 0 2 1 3
MAPLE LEAFS 0 2 0 0 2

The Blue Jackets were down 2-0 deep into the third period. Like, reaaaaaaal late. It didn't look good, but a fortunate bounce started to turn things around.

Jordan Schroeder fired a shot toward the net, it popped up in the air and bounced behind Maple Leafs goaltender Frederik Andersen to get the Blue Jackets on the board, down 2-1, with 4:35 left in the third period.

Less than two minutes later, it was all even. Somehow. Some way.

Seth Jones jumped a route in the neutral zone, picked off a clearing pass and took off into the offensive zone. He fed Pierre-Luc Dubois in the high slot, who beat Andersen clean to the blocker side: Bang. 2-2 game, 2:47 left, and we're headed to overtime where anything can happen.

Keep in mind – this game looked hopeless in the third period. The Blue Jackets were getting out-shot 12-1 at one point, the puck wouldn't agree with them. It felt like a foregone conclusion. But then...

After a stellar Sergei Bobrovsky save on a Tyler Bozak breakaway, Artemi Panarin teamed up with Zach Werenski to close it out. Werenski slipped a backhand pass through Andersen and across the crease to Panarin, who directed the puck off his skate and part of his stick and into the net.

Hyperbole is a hell of a drug, but it's not a stretch to label this the Blue Jackets' biggest win of the season.

Injury Update

There's good news and bad news: Sonny Milano left the game in the second period and did not return. On the other hand, all of Brandon Dubinsky, Alexander Wennberg and Ryan Murray skated with their gear on Monday, according to FOX Sports Ohio. The fact they're traveling and skating is a good sign.

Next Up

The Blue Jackets have two games left before their bye week, and you guessed it, they'll play a back-to-back set on Thursday and Friday. First up is the Buffalo Sabres before returning home to close out the pre-bye schedule against the Vancouver Canucks.
