The Columbus Blue Jackets are trying to piece together wins. They do so without forwards and defensemen they started the season with in the lineup. It has left the team depleted at times. Picking up a player off of waivers felt like a no-brainer.

In enters recently-waived veteran forward Jussi Jokinen.

The Finnish forward has over 900 games played, and over 500 points contributed in his career. During his first game with the Blue Jackets, he was encouraged by his lines play.

"I think especially, the first half of the game we were generating a lot," said Jokinen to the media on hand. "I think the second half, ask the whole team or line; we really didn't get our forecheck going. They (Dallas Stars) kind of took over the game. There was some good and some things we can do better."

With over 15 minutes of ice time and two shots on goal, Jokinen is already making an impact on the ice. Skating with Matt Calvert and Nick Foligno, the hope is that Jokinen can create stability for others. It helps that the team has received solid goaltending all season long. When a team gets excellent goaltending, every night, they will always have a chance.

"Unbelievable game," Jokinen said, giving praise to goaltender Joonas Korpisalo. "They have a really similar game, Bobrovsky, and Korpisalo. It's been fun to watch the last couple of years. Obviously taking his (Korpisalo) game to another level, he was the difference maker tonight."
