Despite the sloppy and rhythm-less nature of preseason games, there's often something to take away from them.

Tonight, though, that notion was a tough sell.

The Blue Jackets were slow, out-of-sync (save for some spurts by their No. 1 line of Artemi Panarin, Cam Atkinson and Pierre-Luc Dubois) and they stumbled to a 5-1 loss at Nationwide Arena in their fifth exhibition game.

Atkinson scored for Columbus on a nifty finish in front of the net, a play set up initially by Artemi Panarin's rush up the ice and Markus Nutivaara's smooth skating and cross-ice pass to Scott Harrington (who then fed Atkinson).

Sergei Bobrovsky started for the Blue Jackets, his second of the preseason, and was beaten for four goals on 19 shots in the first two periods. He went the duration and finished with 22 saves on 27 shots, giving up a power play goal in the third period.

Ville Husso made 16 saves in net for the Blues, while Dmitrij Jaskin scored two goals for the visitors.

Injury Update

The Blue Jackets expect Ryan Murray to miss additional time after an injury suffered last week against the Chicago Blackhawks.
