It only took him 113 games, but lay off, would you?

On Monday night, Joonas Korpisalo recorded the first assist of his professional hockey career.

This helper from Korpisalo was for Cam Atkinson's empty-net goal en route to the Columbus Blue Jackets' 5-2 defeat of the Washington Capitals.

Now, it may not look like Korpisalo had the intention of recording an assist on this play, but that's because you don't know the maniacal mind of the 26-year-old. He has a purpose behind every slide, drop-down and poke-check.

It was only a matter of time before he nabbed the first apple of his career.
