The Blue Jackets are now 10-16-5 after a 6-5 OT win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. However, things are more promising elsewhere. 

Here's another update on the Blue Jackets' prospects:

2023 Draft

  • Gavin Brindley, F, Univ. of Michigan (NCAA), 34th overall pick: 18 GP, 10-8--18.

Brindley has a chance to play for Team USA at the 2024 IIHF World Juniors as he was named to the team's preliminary roster.

  • William Whitelaw, F, Univ. of Wisconsin (NCAA), 66th overall pick: 17 GP, 6-5--11

Like Brindley, Whitelaw was selected to Team USA's preliminary roster for the World Juniors. 

  • Andrew Strathmann, LD, Youngstown Phantoms (USHL), 98th overall pick: 17 GP, 5-13--18
  • Luca Pinelli, F, Ottawa 67's (OHL), 114th overall pick: 29 GP, 22-10--32

Pinelli is tied for fifth in the OHL in goals. 

  • Melvin Strahl, G, Modo Jr. (Swe-Jr), 156th overall pick: 19 GP, 8-10-0, .909SV%, 2.72 GAA
  • Oiva Keskinen, F, Tappara Tampere (SM-liiga), 194th overall pick: 29 GP, 3-12--15

Keskinen was named to Finland's pre-tournament roster for the World Juniors.

  • Tyler Peddle, F, Drummondville Voltigeurs (QMJHL), 224th overall pick: 32 GP: 6-6--12

2022 Draft

  • Denton Mateychuk, LD, Moose Jaw Warriors (WHL), 12th overall pick: 24 GP, 6-29--35

Mateychuk is first among WHL defensemen in points/game this season. He was named to Team Canada's squad for the World Juniors.
