The Fourth of July seemed a good time to post this. Highlights include defending the home land against Morgan, Antietam, and the Valley campaign. If you've never read of the 1864 action near Winchester, VA, I recommend "Valley of the Shadow" by Ralph Peters. It is historical fiction, but the author does a fantastic job with actual detail. I gained an appreciation for Delaware's own "Rud" Hayes. 22 souls were lost during service, fifteen to disease.
