Being a wily, veteran mercenary has it's draw back and perks.

Trying to find a Stanley Cup to put on your mantle is one of the game's biggest pursuits.

Having played on Detroit Red Wings' teams that were very, very good, Quincey has had a taste of success. After his most recent contract with the team expired, he joined the New Jersey Devils. Not exactly a cup chasing move, nonetheless, he still was paid a handsome sum.

In steps the Columbus Blue Jackets.

When the Blue Jackets looked for a veteran defenseman to help them out on the back end for their Cup run, they looked Quincey's way. Quincey was traded in exchange for Dalton Prout, a fan favorite.

Quincey got his chance in the playoffs. Whether he is brought back to make a similar run is another story.

What did we expect?

A veteran that kept the wheels on the proverbial bus moving.

Whenever an older player is brought in via trade like the Blue Jackets did, you never expect them to re-write hockey history. You want them to step in and make sure no funny business takes place.

What did we get?

Almost what the Blue Jackets acquired him for.

Quincey put in two goals and added one assist for a total of three points in 20 games. Those are the type of numbers you'd expect from his position and status. Nothing that would "wow" you.

Where his game turns disappointing is when you look at his shot differential numbers. Quincey has never been a big player in that regard, he never would dominate the ice like that. He was more territorial than anything in his most recent years. In his "prime", he did a great job on some really special Red Wings' teams but then again, who didn't?

Without a striking offensive presence, you have a physical and slow player. Quincey was able to lay the lumber more than once while with the team. The issue of his foot speed became more and more evident when the Blue Jackets were in the playoffs. He couldn't keep up and it was a real issue facing the talented Pittsburgh Penguins.

Memorable Moment

It isn't a hockey related play but it sure did make an impact on me. Quincey hopping onto the boards to try and avoid a too many men on the ice penalty. If no other moment resonates, this will definitely live on forever.

Contract Status

According to CapFriendly.com, Quincey is an unrestricted free agent. He made 1.25 million this past season. His current status with the Blue Jackets organization past this season is unknown.
