Zach Werenski is in uncharted territory.
Again.
With an assist on Dante Fabbro's goal in the first period Tuesday night in the Columbus Blue Jackets' 5-3 win over the Calgary Flames, Werenski extended his home point streak to 15 games.
Sound familiar?
It's the second straight season in which Werenski has had a point streak of 15+ games on home ice.
| PLAYER | STREAK | YEAR |
| Bobby Orr | 25 Games | 1974-75 |
| Paul Coffey | 23 Games | 1985-86 |
| Phil Housley | 22 Games | 1991-92 |
| Zach Werenski | 22 Games | 2024-25 |
When he did it last season, Werenski's 15th straight bested a record previously set by Mike Green, who had points in 14 straight at home with the Washington Capitals during the 2009-10 season.
It also gave Werenski the longest streak by a defenseman in the 21st century.
Tying that mark this season means that the two longest home ice point streaks by a defenseman this century belong to No. 8 on the Blue Jackets.
Going back even further, the 15-game streak eclipsed the longest since Hall of Famer Ray Bourque had points in 15 straight during the 1992-93 season.
Put another way: in the last 33 years, the two defensemen with the longest point streak on home ice now read:
Werenski, 2024-25
Werenski, 2025-26 (and still active)
Remarkable.
Werenski's point streak last season came to an end at 22 games, tying him with Phil Housley for the third-longest streak in NHL history. He was one away from tying Paul Coffey for second all-time, and just three away from Bobby Orr's all-time record of 25.
All three players, like Bourque, are in the Hall of Fame.
During the 22-game streak last season, Werenski totaled 14 goals and 27 assists for 41 points, an average of 1.86 points per game.
Through the first 15 games of that streak, Werenski had 30 points: nine goals, 21 assists.
Through the first 15 games of this streak? 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points — 1.93 points per game, just higher than the total streak of 2024-25.
Werenski will look to make 16 straight on Thursday when the Blue Jackets battle the Vancouver Canucks.
(PS: Don't blame 1st Ohio Battery if it ends Thursday.)
