The battle for the top of the Metropolitan Division is for the taking and the New Jersey Devils smelled blood in the water when they took on the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Behind the Battle series from the Columbus Blue Jackets shows behind the scenes moments with the team during crucial moments.
They were able to capture the intensity and the disappointment of not being able to capitalize on their first game against the Devils, a 4-1 home loss. Then they were able to capture the elation that came with a 5-3 win on the road later in the week.
There are multiple great moments in the four minute video, that includes both the players and staff.
One clip centers around head coach John Tortorella who begs the team to pass it to their own teammate's stick. You can easily hear the exasperation in his voice.
Zach Werenski who is notoriously quiet and even-keeled offers words of encouragement throughout the second part of the video when the Blue Jackets came roaring back to win. It isn't a side that is often seen and allows for a light to shine on an otherwise unknown on-ice personality.
At one point in the clip, Werenski asks Panarin about his assist totals, "Is that five for you?" Panarin fantastically responds, "Yeah, baby!"
