The Cleveland Monsters have a former player joining their coaching staff. You may remember the name.

Central Ohioan and former seventh round draft pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets, Trent Vogelhuber has retired. His first job post-retirement? Joining the Monsters' coaching staff. He takes the spot vacated by Carey Krug, who left the Monsters due to personal reasons earlier in the month.

From Bill Zito, GM of the Cleveland Monsters:

"We are very excited to have Trent join our coaching staff in Cleveland.Trent was a smart, hard-working player and this is a great next step in his hockey career. The timing worked out given Carey's decision to return to his family and the personal hockey instruction work he does in the Detroit-area."

Vogelhuber finished his AHL career playing 267 games accumulating 28 goals and 45 assists for a total of 73 points. In addition to his time in the AHL, he also played in the NCAA for the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks where they reached the playoffs in each of his four years in Oxford.

The Ohio connection within the Blue Jackets organization is thriving, Vogelhuber's transition to coaching will be fun to watch as the Monsters' season pushes forward.
