Blue Jackets prospect and Michigan Wolverines forward Gavin Brindley has been named Big Ten Player of the Year, Michigan announced Tuesday.

Brindley, the No. 34 overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, was the conference's leading goal-scorer and co-leading point-scorer with 24 goals and 51 points in 36 games as a sophomore. He was also named to the All-Big Ten first team.

On March 16, he scored the game-winning goal in the Big Ten Tournament semi-final against Minnesota to send the No. 10 Wolverines to the Big Ten Tournament championship game against No. 5 Michigan State on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET.

In addition to his success at the collegiate level, Brindley helped Team USA capture the gold medal at the 2024 IIHF World Juniors, posting 6-4--10 in seven games.

In 2022-23, Brindley posted 12-26--38 in 41 games as a freshman and was an All-Big Ten honorable mention.
