CBJ GOALS:

Voronkov (PPG) (P2, 13:32)

Kirill Marchenko scored the winning shootout goal and had two assists to help the Columbus Blue Jackets over the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 on Monday night at Nationwide Arena.

Zach Werenski and Dmitri Voronkov each scored and had an assist. Adam Fantilli had a goal. Jet Greaves made his fifth straight start, making 29 saves.

Oliver Kapanen and Josh Anderson scored for Montreal. The former Ohio State Buckeye Jakub Dobes made 20 stops.

Werenski briefly left the game in the third period after taking a puck high, but returned shortly after.

Columbus is on a five-game point streak (3-0-2) and concludes their three-game homestand going 2-0-1. Here's how the Blue Jackets picked up two more points:

1st Period:

(6:58 — CBJ Goal): Werenski scored his fifth goal of the season to give Columbus the 1-0 lead. He leads all defensemen in goals. Mathieu Oliveir and Charlie Coyle assisted on the play as Werenski had the space to skate in and unleash his shot.

Montreal was limited to one shot on goal until the 6:22 mark of the first period and ended up within one of the Blue Jackets, 10-8.

2nd Period:

(4:47 — MTL Goal): Oliver Kapanen scored his seventh to tie things up 1-1. Mike Matheson and Ivan Demidov picked up the assists.

For a second, Montreal might have thought they took the lead.

(9:47 — CBJ Goal): Fantilli stayed hot as his sixth goal gave Columbus a 2-1 lead. He now has seven points (four goals, three assists) in the last six games. Marchenko added the assist to extend his career-best 12-game point streak. Voronkov added an assist.

(13:32 — CBJ Goal): Voronkov scored the power play goal to extend the 3-1 Jackets lead and give him his ninth of the season. It's his second straight game with a power play goal. Marchenko and Werenski each added their second point of the night.

3rd Period:

(7:57 — MTL Goal): Anderson scored his third to get the game back within one goal. Lane Hutson added the assist.

Overtime/Shootout:

Thanks to Greaves, the Blue Jackets made it through overtime and had a chance in the shootout. The goaltender came up huge all night, especially late, as the Canadiens outshot Columbus 6-0 in the overtime period. Then he shut the door in the shootout.

Kent Johnson had a silky smooth deke and a goal on the first shootout attempt to beat Dobes, and then Marchenko won it on the third attempt. Cole Caufield was the only one to beat Greaves.
