Hello, and welcome to Blue Jackets playoff chase central. Over the coming weeks, this is your hub for the final sprint. All the standings, odds, and what-if scenarios you need as Columbus chases the postseason.

After picking up just one point in their first two post-Olympics games, the Blue Jackets have four points over the last two nights and are within three points of the playoff line. As of Wednesday, that would be the No. 2 wild card spot, with the Blue Jackets trailing the Boston Bruins by three points. Both teams have 22 games remaining. The Blue Jackets are also within five points of the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Islanders, who are tied for second place in the division.

Tuesday was an overall positive night for the Blue Jackets.' chances. Had the Bruins lost, Columbus would be one point out. The flip side (and the reason the result is "slightly bad" rather than "bad", is that meant a Penguins regulation loss. In a playoff chase, the best result is often a regulation finish. 

Elsewhere, the Utah Mammoth handed the Washington Capitals a regulation loss, which allowed Columbus to pass the Caps in points (70 to 69). It was game 63 for Washington, meaning the Blue Jackets still have three games in hand. Other games on the docket were less impactful but still offered up generally positive results.
