Day two at the 2024 IIHF World Juniors has come and gone.

With Team USA idle Wednesday, only three of the four Blue Jackets prospects at the World Juniors played.

Germany Beats Finland 4-3

Oiva Keskinen (2023 Draft, 7th round) didn't register a point in Finland's upset loss to Germany, but he did win 7/10 faceoffs in 12:22.

Canada Beats Latvia 10-0

Denton Mateychuk and Jordan Dumais combined to post three assists (one primary, two secondary) in Canada's demolition of Latvia. Dumais' five shots on goal were tied for the second most in the game and Mateychuk led all skaters in ice time with 23:44.

Here's Mateychuk's primary assist on Conor Geekie's power-play goal to open the scoring.

His outlet pass to Matthew Wood earned him a secondary assist on Macklin Celebrini's goal in the second period to make it a 5-0 game. More on Celebrini in a moment.

Dumais recorded his first point of the tournament in the third period after helping force a turnover that led to a goal by Carson Rehkopf.

Celebrini scored 1-4--5 and was named Canada's player of the game. The 17-year-old freshman standout at Boston University now has 2-4--6 through Canada's first two games. He's projected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2024 Draft and has looked as good as advertised. Not that the Blue Jackets should try to tank, but Celebrini is certainly a player worth tanking for.
