Robert D'Artagnan Mixer made a big mistake.

For whatever reason, Rob has let me write today's edition of "The Fuse." He may need to recharge his batteries, or maybe he wanted to dominate Short North one more time before getting down to the nitty-gritty of the playoffs.

Either way, I am here to guide you through this rough patch. If you can bear with me, today should be fun.

It happens every year, and every year, there happens to be a debate in my Twitter dot commercial timeline about bandwagon fans. People discuss the merits of the bandwagon fan and what they mean to the community while simultaneously beating their chest about how long they have been a fan of the team.

As the Blue Jackets look to start another run during the playoffs, it's important to remember that any fan is a good fan. Yes, that means even folks in western Pennsylvania. As the series approaches and more people begin to watch, it brings an air to the city that is only there for Ohio State football home games.

People are excited. People are talking about hockey. It doesn't matter that Kevin in Accounting is originally from Dayton and is somehow a Penguins fan; he's adding to the atmosphere. Every fan in Nationwide Arena makes the games fun and exciting.

It's fun for me to cover a game and sit at home with a full body red. Here comes the best part though: I am a bandwagon fan. Although I have followed the team since its inception, I took a solid chunk of years off during the Scott Howson era. My body couldn't handle it. I was brought back wanting to see what the Blue Jackets could do without Rick Nash and was greeted with a tiebreaker that broke my heart even after the team defeated the Nashville Predators.

That next spring, I started Buckeye State Hockey...and the rest is history. What could have happened if my interest was met with scorn? Would I be here to tell you this tale of love, passion and central Ohio? It doesn't appear likely, so take that with you when your friend asks why Rick Nash isn't playing.

Display the patience that prior Blue Jackets teams have instilled in you and pass it on.
