Big Boss is staying put.
The Columbus Blue Jackets signed forward Dmitri Voronkov to a two-year, $8.35M contract through the 2026-27 season, the club announced Saturday afternoon.
By signing the contract, Voronkov is now off the market and is not subject to being offered a contract by another team.
The deal has an average annual value of $4.175 million and keeps Voronkov with the Blue Jackets through the 2026-27 season. He will still be a restricted free agent at the end of this new contract.
"We are very pleased to reach this agreement with Dmitri as he is an important part of our young core," said President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Don Waddell.
"He has size, strength and excellent hands and has a chance to be a very special player. We look forward to his continued growth and development as a Blue Jacket."
After an impressive rookie campaign in 2023-24 that saw Voronkov score 18 goals and add 16 assists (34 points), the 6'5", nearly 230lb Russian was even better in the 2024-25 season, scoring 23 goals and picking up 24 assists for a 47-point sophomore campaign.
Fourteen of his 41 career goals have come on the power play, with Voronkov quickly developing a reputation for being a dangerous presence in front of the net.

That assist, his 59th, ties the all-time club record for apples in a season.

There was also a huge increase in time on ice for Voronkov in his second season — going from an average of 13:27 in year one to 16:47 in year two as he quickly became a top-line player under head coach Dean Evason.
Most of that time spent at the top of the lineup was alongside Sean Monahan and Kirill Marchenko. When on the ice together, the trio averaged 5.93 goals per 60 minutes — the highest of any of the 51 forward groupings that played 250+ minutes together during the season.
Voronkov was a fourth-round selection by the Blue Jackets in the 2019 NHL Draft.
