It's 20 July and the Jackets still have three important players unsigned. Jet Greaves and Cole Sillinger have filed for arbitration and their hearings are this week. As we've seen, GM Don Waddell often signs a player at the last minute. So, it wouldn't be a surprise if Jet and Silly sign with 24 or less hours until their hearing. Thinking pessimistically, one of them could go to arbitration. FWIW, the suggestions I've read predict Jet signing for between $5MM and $6MM AAV for three years and Silly signing for between $4MM and $5MM for four years.

Adam Fantilli hasn't signed, yet, and the latest word is that negotiations have stalled, no reason given. Now, looking at the two players drafted ahead of Moe could give us some clues. Both signed 5 year contracts, which could suggest Moe will do the same. In fact, several young players have recently signed contracts with terms of 5 years or less, a trend likely to continue as the salary cap quickly rises. Anyway, Leo Carlsson signed for an $18MM AAV, a significant portion of which is signing bonuses. (Personally, I don't think he's proven himself sufficiently to get such an AAV and Danny Briere is going to regret that offer sheet.) Connor Bedard, the so-called next McDavid signed for $15MM AAV. The story is that he intentionally left money on the table so Chicago can build a complete roster. Bedard, statistically, has had a better career than Carlsson and would have been justified in demanding an AAV greater than Carlsson's. Anyway, the point is that Fantilli, statistically, is Carlsson's equal. But I think he knows he's not getting $18MM/year. My opinion is that he should sign for something close to what Bedard did with some kind of NTC and, perhaps, some 75% - 85% in signing bonuses.
