The month of January has proven to be an odd one thus far.

The Columbus Blue Jackets insanely defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs. They scored two goals late in the third period to tie it up and then Artemi Panarin in overtime scored to win the game 3-2.

It was not your typical professional hockey game.

SETH JONES IS GOD

This has been beaten into the ground over and over again, but Seth Jones is excellent. Like, really, really stinking good. He had another multi-point game tonight with two assists, and he also played 27:53 that is three minutes more than the next closest player.

When you take a look at his more in-depth stats, he led the Blue Jackets in shot attempt differential, and he had the highest game score as well. He is a difference maker on the back end, and the Blue Jackets would be lost without him

AIR JORDAN

Before tonight, Blue Jackets forward Jordan Schroeder played in 15 games but had yet to put up any points. He excelled all night and was rewarded with an assist (for now, it appears that he scored) and was given more ice time as well.

The team needed someone out of the norm to step up, and Schroeder did it in spades. He was second on the team in shot differential pushing for more ice time in the process.

BOB SAVES...AGAIN

Very quietly, goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky had another impressive win. The comeback doesn't happen if Bobrovsky doesn't stand on his head and make impressive save after impressive save on the Maple Leafs. He ended the game with a .946 save percentage and saves on 35 of 37 shots.

Where the Bob goes, so goes the Blue Jackets.

BOONE JENNER SHOULD BE A CENTER, SORRY IF THIS OFFENDS

He is one of the most beloved players on the Blue Jackets, but through many games this season, forward Boone Jenner was just plain ol' not good. Ever since his move to center, Jenner seems to be finding his stride. He was fourth in shot differential tonight and was initially given an assist on the Foligno (Schroeder) goal. He looks more comfortable in the middle and is more active as well.

He needs to stick in the middle even if it means an ice time demotion in the future. He is just a different player as a center pivot. Whether it continues in January is a top storyline to follow.

HE'S A ROOKIE YOU KNOW

Pierre-Luc Dubois is the Blue Jackets number one center, and he is also outstanding. His goal is the quintessential Dubois goal. He finds the area of the ice that no one is in and is fed the puck in a perfect position to score. You keep waiting for the plateau to happen but it just feels like it isn't coming. Dubois is du man.
