Checking in on Blue Jackets Prospects

Let's take a look around the world and see how a handful of the Blue Jackets' prospects are playing so far this season.


David Jiricek, RD, Cleveland Monsters [AHL], Draft: 2022, R1, P6

An AHL All-Star, Jiricek leads all rookie defensemen in points per game at the AHL level with 0.81 and is third in that group with 29 points in (6-23--29) in 36 games. He also played in two NHL games this season. 

Jordan Dumais, RW, Halifax Mooseheads [QMJHL], Draft: 2022, R3, P96

Dumais is the second-leading scorer in the CHL with 44-68--112 points in 53 games. That's two fewer points than the projected 2023 NHL Draft No. 1 pick Connor Bedard. 

Kirill Marchenko, RW, Columbus Blue Jackets [NHL], Draft: 2018, R2, P49

After scoring 8-11--19 in 16 AHL games, Marchenko has made a name for himself at the NHL level, ranking tied for second in goals among rookies with 16 in just 38 games.

 

Denton Mateychuk, LD, Moose Jaw Warriors [WHL], Draft: 2022, R1, P12

After scoring nearly a point per game last season, Mateychuk is ninth in scoring among WHL defensemen with 6-49--55 in 55 games.

Corson Ceulemans, RD, Wisconsin [NCAA - Big Ten] Draft: 2021, R1, P25

Ceulemans is third on his team in scoring with 8-13--21 in 31 games for Wisconsin in his sophomore season.

Luca Del Bel Belluz, C, Sarnia Sting [OHL], Draft: 2022, R2, P44

After scoring 30 goals and 76 points in 68 games last season for Mississauga, Del Bel Belluz is 23rd in the OHL in scoring with 34-32--66 in 56 games. On Jan. 7, he was traded to the Sarnia Sting.

Kirill Dolzhenkov, RW, Krasnaya Armiya [Rus-MHL], Draft: 2022, R4, P109

Dolzhenkov has stayed hot in the MHL, posting 18-27--45 in 50 games. He's also played in five games with CSKA Moscow of the KHL.

Stanislav Svozil, LD, Regina Pats [WHL], Draft: 2021, R3, P69

Svozil is third among WHL defensemen in points with 9-55--64 in 44 games.


Keep an eye out for these players to wear the Blue Jackets sweater in years to come.
