A huge win.

Patrik Laine scored two goals in his second return to Winnipeg, Johnny Gaudreau recorded three assists, and Joonas Korpisalo made 37 saves as the Blue Jackets beat the Jets 4-1 at Canada Life Centre Friday night.

1st Period

Laine opened the scoring 6:48 into the game after receiving a cross-ice feed from Johnny Gaudreau before firing a wrist shot from the right circle past the short side of Jets goalie David Rittich.

The Jackets doubled their lead nearly four minutes later as Erik Gudbranson fired a wrist shot from the top of the right circle that deflected off former Jacket Pierre-Luc Dubois and in.

Gudbranson's goal was his first as a Jacket and the 100th point of his NHL career.

The Jets had a power play late in the period, but couldn't convert. The best chance they had was a left-circle wrist shot by Kyle Connor that was stopped by Korpisalo.

Columbus took a 2-0 lead into the first period with shots at 11 for both clubs.

2nd period

Laine opened the second period scoring at 3:19 after a beautiful feed from Boone Jenner in the slot found Laine at the left circle where he found the back of the net.

With the assist, Jenner recorded the 300th point of his career.

Korpisalo had to make several big saves throughout the game, especially in the second period, when he denied Sam Gagner at 3:59 and then got some help after Morgan Barron beat him but not the post at 10:07.

Gus Nyquist added to the Blue Jackets' lead at 12:21 at the doorstep, finishing a nice centering feed from Gaudreau.

Korpisalo had to make four saves from the 15:58 mark to the 16:49 mark. He had to be great as the Jets were dominating the possession.

The Jackets took a 4-0 lead into the final period of regulation while being outshot 25-21.

Third Period

After killing off several penalties, the Jets finally scored with a man advantage, this one came with an empty net as Dubois scored in front of the net with 4:30 left in regulation.

The Jackets would hold on to win 4-1, improving their record to 8-12-2.
