Adam Boqvist and Jack Roslovic Each Score Two Goals As Blue Jackets Beat Capitals 7-6 in OT

Adam Boqvist and Jack Roslovic each scored two goals as the Blue Jackets beat the Capitals 7-6 in OT at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. Tuesday night.

1st Period

Dylan Strome had a chance to open the scoring at 3:08 on a breakaway but his backhand attempt was denied by Daniil Tarasov.

Alex Ovechkin opened the scoring at 5:12 when his centering pass appeared to deflect off on Nick Blankenburg's skate and in. The goal was originally credited to Strome, who was at the left doorstep.

T.J. Oshie doubled Washington's lead at 8:10 with a deflection from the slot that Tarasov had no chance of stopping.

Connor Sheary added to the Capitals' lead at 16:00 after Rasmus Sandin won a puck battle against Boone Jenner before finding Sheary who was wide-open in the slot following a defensive breakdown from the Jackets.

Eric Robinson got Columbus on the board at 16:45 when he finished a feed from Mathieu Olivier from the low slot after Olivier made a nice drive to the net. 

Washington led 3-1 after the first period and took a 19-12 edge in shots on goal into the locker room.

2nd Period

Boqvist put the Jackets within one at 6:57 after moving around Ovechkin at the right circle and firing a sharp-angle shot from just above the goal line past Charlie Lindgren. 

Former Jacket Sonny Milano boosted Washington's lead to two at 10:36 after he was left wide-open at the right doorstep.

Roslovic scored on the power play at 15:01 with a one-timer from the right circle in the bumper spot to cut the Washington lead to 4-3. 

Nick Jensen put Washington back up two at 19:52 with a wrist shot from the high slot through traffic. 

The Capitals took a 5-3 lead into the third period along with a 30-23 advantage in shots on goal.

3rd Period

Boqvist scored his second goal of the game at 6:37 after Robinson won the puck back for Lane Pederson who found Boqvist in the left circle where he fired a shot past Lindgren.

Emil Bemstrom tied the game at 8:35 with a wicked slap-shot from the left circle off a nice backhand feed from Patrik Laine. 

Jensen scored his second of the game at 15:24 after moving around Erik Gudbranson and beating Tarasov with a top-shelf backhand shot.

Boone Jenner tied the game at 19:13 from the right doorstep after Johnson's shot from the left goal line created a rebound.

The teams were tied at six headed to overtime with the Jackets leading 38-37 in shots on goal.

Overtime

Roslovic scored the OT winner at 2:43 with a one-timer from the left circle off a feed from Gaudreau.

With the win, the Jackets improved to 22-41-7.
