The Blue Jackets announced Wednesday that they signed right winger Mathieu Olivier to a two-year, $1.1M AAV deal through the 2024-25 season.

“Mathieu’s work ethic and dedication are tremendous and he has become a valuable contributor to our organization on and off the ice,” Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said in the team's release.  “He brings size, physicality and character to our lineup and we are excited that he will continue to be part of the Blue Jackets family.”

Olivier, 26, scored 5-10--15 and registered 81 PIMs in 66 games in his first season with the Blue Jackets after being acquired via trade from the Predators in the summer of 2022. He was scheduled to be a restricted free agent with arbitration rights and is set to be an unrestricted free agent when his deal expires in 2025.

In 114 regular season NHL games over four seasons, Olivier posted 8-14--22 along with 169 PIMs in addition to 14 PIMs in five playoff games.
