Lucas Raymond opened the scoring for Detroit at 3:41 after Sean Kuraly fell and turned the puck over and Raymond was able to skate by Kuraly and fake Spencer Martin out from behind the net.

Martin kept the Columbus deficit at one when he robbed Fabbri with his stick from the left doorstep at 3:48.

However, Fabbri would score from the goalmouth at 4:26 to double Detroit's lead.

Alexandre Texier responded for the Jackets on a breakaway thanks to an outlet pass from Damon Severson at 5:33.

Adam Fantilli tied the game at 18:14, batting Kirill Marchenko's shot that careened of the boards out of mid-air.

The teams were tied at two after the first period with Detroit leading 9-7 in shots on goal.

2nd Period

Kuraly gave the Blue Jackets the lead at 5:41 when he took Werenski's outlet pass, chipped the puck over Jeff Petry's stick, and fired a shot from the left slot.

Alex DeBrincat was wide open from the right circle, where he fired a slap shot past Martin at 16:01 to tie the game.

After Kuraly's exit pass hit the skate of Texier and found Klim Kostin in the Red Wings offensive zone, Kostin found Daniel Sprong in the right circle where he fired a shot past Maritn at 18:19.

The Red Wings led 4-3 after two periods and took a 20-15 advantage in shots on goal into the third period.

3rd Period

Fabbri scored his second goal of the game in a net-mouth scramble following Jake Walman's long shot that took a weird bounce in front of the net at 2:33.

Patrik Laine cut Detroit's lead in half with a wicked right-circle wrist shot at 11:30.

The Jackets lost 5-4 and are now 4-7-3.
