The Blue Jackets announced Thursday that prospect Jordan Dumais is expected to miss approximately six weeks after he undergoes abdominal surgery on Jan. 19. This comes after a previous report suggested he'd undergo double hip surgery and treatment for a sports hernia that'd sideline him until April.

The Blue Jackets selected the Halifax Mooseheads forward with the No. 96 overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft. Since then, he's won the QMJHL MVP and set Halifax's all-time franchise record for points.

So far this season, Dumais posted 16-31--47 in 21 games for the Halifax Mooseheads and set the franchise's record for points. He also represented Canada at the World Juniors and posted 1-1--2 in five games.
