Goaltender Daniil Tarasov Makes 47 Saves But Blue Jackets Fall 2-1 To Predators on Saturday

The Blue Jackets fell 2-1 to the Predators at Nationwide Arena on Saturday despite Daniil Tarasov tying a career-high with 47 saves.

1st Period

Columbus native Kiefer Sherwood opened the scoring for Nashville at 12:19 with a right-circle wrist shot off the rush that went through Daniil Tarasov's five-hole. 

Johnny Gaudreau nearly tied the game at 15:22 with a tap-in from the left doorstep but he was robbed by Kevin Lankinen.

Yegor Chinakhov's bid to tie the game came in the form of a wrist shot from the high slot, but he hit the post at 19:12.

Nashville took a 1-0 lead into the second period and were ahead 18-8 in shots on goal.

2nd Period

Mathieu Olivier had a great chance to tie the game at 0:49 when Alexandre Texier set him up for a shot from the low slot but Lankinen made the save.

Texier tied the game with his 10th goal of the season at 1:50 with a nifty finish from the left doorstep off the rebound from Ivan Provorov's left-point shot. 

Chinakhov hit the post for the second time in the game with a right-circle wrist shot at 5:13. 

Tarasov kept the game tied while on the power play with a save on Colton Sissons' breakaway try at 12:15. 

The Jackets thought they tied the game at 14:16 when Boone Jenner batted the puck out of mid-air and into the net from the slot but the goal was disallowed on the ice for a high-stick and was confirmed as such after a review.

The teams were tied at one after 40 minutes with Nashville taking a 35-22 advantage in shots on goal into the second intermission.

3rd Period

Luke Evangelista put Nashville up 2-1 at 4:16 with a wicked right-circle wrist shot off the rush. 

The Jackets pulled Tarasov for an extra skater at 18:07 and Gaudreau nearly tied the game at 19:44 but was denied by Lankinen.

The Blue Jackets lost 2-1 and fell to 22-32-10.
