The Blue Jackets added forward James Malatesta to the roster on an emergency recall and assigned David Jiricek to the AHL, a sign that Zach Werenski is good to go after being questionable for Friday's game and also that a forward may have gotten injured in Friday's 6-1 loss to the Avalanche.

In 53 AHL games in his first season as a pro, Malatesta has posted 12-9--21 along with 79 PIMs. In 2022-23, he won the QMJHL's Playoff MVP and Memorial Cup MVP with the Quebec Remparts. The Blue Jackets selected him with the 133rd overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft.

The Jackets face the Golden Knights from Las Vegas on Saturday at 10:30 p.m. ET on Bally Sports Ohio.
