SCHEDULE

Two nights after running into a hot goalie in Juuse Saros, the Columbus Blue Jackets found their way in game two of the regular season Saturday night.

Kirill Marchenko scored a hat trick and Boone Jenner notched his 200th career goal in Columbus' 7-4 win over the Minnesota Wild.

As attention now shifts to Monday's home opener against the New Jersey Devils, defenseman Zach Werenski feels that the team has played well through its first six periods of regular season hockey.

“I like the way we played for both games,” said Werenski. “I thought we could have gotten rewarded a little better in Nashville. We didn’t, but we stuck with it here tonight and got two points."

"I definitely think it’s a good start for our group.”

Here's what to know when the Blue Jackets hit the Nationwide Arena ice for the first time season:

  • The NEW JERSEY DEVILS play their third straight road game to open the season before their home opener Thursday night against the Florida Panthers. They've split the first two, losing 6-3 in Carolina last Thursday before scoring five times in a 5-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.

  • Columbus' PENALTY KILL has been dreadful to start the season, allowing five goals on 12 chances through the first two games. The Devils, who are 0-for-6 on the man-advantage, will certainly be aware of that.

  • KIRILL MARCHENKO didn't find the back of the net on any of his eight opening night shots on goal, but picked up his fourth career hat trick Saturday night when he scored three times on just four shots. Marchenko has made no secret he loves to shoot the puck,

  • There are two LINEUP CHANGES from Saturday's game. Jet Greaves will get the start in net after Elvis Merzlikins after the latter's exhausting 48-save performance Saturday, and defenseman Jake Christiansen enters the lineup in place of Erik Gudbranson, who will be a healthy scratch. Christiansen took practice with Denton Mateychuk on Monday morning, with Mateychuk moving from the left side to the right.

Forward Yegor Chinakhov remains the other healthy scratch.

Here are the complete lineup projections:
