Damon Severson's tally to cap off a combined four-goal second period went down as the game-winner as the Columbus Blue Jackets beat the St. Louis Blues 5-3 on Saturday night at Enterprise Center.

The Blue Jackets have won a season-best five straight games. They've won nine of 10 and eight of nine under head coach Rick Bowness.

Jet Greaves made 28 saves to improve to 4-0-0 against the Blues in his career. It was his first start in seven days. Columbus also got their goals from Isac Lundestrom, Denton Mateychuk, Kent Johnson, who also had an assist, and Mason Marchment.

Jordan Binnington made 18 saves for St. Louis. Jimmy Snuggerud and Jonatan Berggren both had a goal and an assist. Tyler Tucker added a goal.

Snuggerud opened the scoring for the Blues, breaking a streak of four straight games in which the Blue Jackets scored first.

Isac Lundestrom tied the game 37 seconds later. The Blue Jackets added on with Denton Mateychuk's go-ahead goal in the first period to take a 2-1 lead.

A pair of second-period power-play goals was scored in the middle frame. Berggren added a power-play goal to tie the game, and then Kent Johnson gave Columbus the lead back.

The back and forth continued as Tucker pulled St. Louis even once again.

Once again, the Jackets answered the response with Damon Severson's tally, the fourth combined goal of the period. Marchment added the third-period empty-net goal to seal the victory.

Sean Monahan suffered a hit in the first period, played the second period, but did not return for the third period. Per Bowness, Monahan left due to illness. Lundestrom left the game in the third period following a collision but returned.

With the win, the Blue Jackets moved ahead of the Florida Panthers and kept pace with the Washington Capitals, who won in overtime. The Jackets are in ninth place in the Eastern Conference, six points behind the Boston Bruins for the second wild card spot and four points behind the New York Islanders for third place in the Metropolitan Division, after the Islanders lost in regulation.

Here's how the Blue Jackets won once again:

1st Period:

(7:11 — STL Goal): The Blues moved up the ice and through the neutral zone quickly as Snuggerud buried his ninth. Brayden Schenn (11) picked up the primary assist, playing gift and go with Snuggerud, who got behind the defense and was all alone on Greaves. Dalibor Dvorsky (6) also got an assist.

(7:48 — CBJ Goal): Lundestrom's second goal of the year pulled the Jackets even with the Blues. Check out the pass by Boone Jenner (18) to get the primary assist. Miles Wood (5) got on the board with the secondary assist.

(3:15 — STL Goal): Berggren's seventh came on the power play as he buried the rebound and helped the Blues tie things up 2-2. Pius Suter (8) got an assist, and Schenn (12) picked up his second of the game.

(19:30 — CBJ Goal): The Blue Jackets held onto a 4-3 lead all period long until Marchment's empty net goal to give him nine as a Blue Jacket. Kirill Marchenko (27) and Adam Fantilli (22) got the assists.
